Newcastle’s summer spending is set to continue with the double-signing of Anderlecht pair Aleksander Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba in the coming days.
The 20-year-old Serbian striker flew into Newcastle today to undergo a medical ahead of his £13.5m move from the Belgian side having already agreed personal terms with the club, and the deal is expected to be announced in the next 48 hours. Mitrovic has scored 44 goals in 90 games in two seasons for the Belgian side – exactly the kind of forward we’ve been looking for.

Talks have been ongoing or sometime to sign his team-mate Chancel Mbemba, but the Daily Mail understand that Newcastle will also complete the £7.5m signing of the 20-year-old centre-back soon.
The Congolese defender pulled himself out of a pre-season friendly between Anderlecht and Lazio in order to complete a move to Newcastle and join up with Mitrovic.
Anderlecht manager Besnik Hasi has confirmed to media today that Mitrovic’s move to Tyneside is close to completion, and that talks are ongoing for Mbemba’s sale as well, but expects a deal to be reached soon.
