Newcastle United have held talks with Hull City regarding the purchase of wide midfielder Thomas Ince, according to Sky Sports.
Derby County, the club where he spent the last four months of the season on loan, are also interested in acquiring his services. Hull City still remain hopeful of holding on to the player with the guarantee of first-team football.
The Magpies’ new manager Steve McClaren wants to be reunited with Ince and help to reproduce his Championship form in the Premier League.
Under McClaren, he scored 11 goals in 18 appearances and provided one assist.
Ince, who is the son of former England captain Paul Ince, started his career at Liverpool but decided to leave the Reds in search of first-team football.
From there he went to Blackpool where he amassed a substantial amount of appearances. He also spent time on loan at Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
It remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old will prefer to stay in the Championship or move back up to top tier.
