Leeds United are aiming to strengthen their defence by signing a Premier League defender, namely Mike Williamson of Newcastle united.
According to the Daily Mirror, Williamson is attracting interest from Leeds’ new manager Uwe Rosler along with West Brom’s Gareth McAuley and Leicester City’s Liam Moore.
The 31-year-old featured 33 times for the Magpies last season, but it looks likely that he may move on with recent reports linking Newcastle with Micah Richards and Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi.
Williamson arrived at St James’ Park from Portsmouth in 2010 for an undisclosed fee and has since made a significant amount of appearances. Despite his vast number of appearances last season, the Geordie faithful will be glad to see the back of the Stoke-born defender – a player that they deem surplus to requirements.

John Carver publicly criticised Williamson towards the end of last season, after he deemed the red card in the 3-0 loss to Leicester be deliberate. Williamson has since denied these claims.
