Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid has admitted that he may well be on his way out of St James’ Park in this summer transfer window.
Whilst training with his national side, Abeid gave some further indication about his future: “I am pleased to be with Newcastle, but I will study all proposals with a good sports project. I want to play regularly, to express myself every weekend, and impose myself in this [Algeria] team which I like a lot.”
Concerning where he may be departing to, he later added: “What I want is to play and to have fun every weekend, so yes France may be a possibility.”
Although the 22-year-old still has one year remaining on his current contract, he is yet to receive any information with regards to extending his stay at St James’ Park. Due to his contractual situation, this summer window will be Newcastle’s last chance to cash-in on Mehdi, as he is available to sign a pre-contract with the club of his choice in January.
Abeid made seven Premier League starts for the Magpies in 2014/15, with the Algerian midfielder earning the man of the match accolade in his full debut against Liverpool earlier in the campaign.
