Newcastle are planning to add a couple of players into the development squad this summer in order to help boost the club’s resources.
With the North East side securing Premier League football for yet another season, owner Mike Ashley has given the go ahead for signings to be made, but with the squad set to be overhauled and many players let go, investing in a number of younger stars may be what the squad needs to secure stability moving forward.
The two players Newcastle are looking to add to their ranks are Racing Santander’s David Concha and Viking FC’s Veton Berisha, with the latter out of contract this summer.
Meanwhile, England u18’s star Adam Armstrong looks set to be sent out on loan in order to aid his development, with a number of clubs interested in his signature.
In April, former boss John Carver admitted that Armstrong was close to a loan move away from Tyneside last season, but was kept because of injury issues: “He was on his way to Bolton, I think it was, or Forest.
“He needs a good season out on loan, in the Championship, banging in goals, as part of his development. Because of the circumstances we’ve had to keep hold of him, keep him in the squad and use him sparingly.”
With Steve McClaren set to take over as manager this week, he will have a lot to look at and as we brought to you yesterday, Patrick Bamford may be one of the names brought straight into the first team.
