Chelsea are no longer looking to loan out striker Patrick Bamford and are willing to allow him to leave the club for a fee of £10million, according to getwestlondon.
Newcastle have previously been linked with a loan move for Bamford but, with the 21-year-old unlikely to be able to make the step up into the first team fold at Chelsea and a loan no longer a viable option, the Magpies may be forced to make a permanent move for the England u21 international – if they decide to follow up their initial interest.
They will face stiff competition for Bamford, with a number of Premier League clubs, including north-east rivals Sunderland, interested in acquiring the services of the former Middlesbrough loanee.
Former Derby boss Steve McClaren is set to be named as the new manager of Newcastle United later this week and could be reunited with Bamford at Newcastle, with the two previously having worked together at Derby.
Bamford impressed during his loan spell with Middlesborough last campaign and was named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season, scoring 17 league goals as his side narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League – losing in the play-off final to Norwich.
The Chelsea striker recently missed out on the final 23-man England squad for this summer’s European u21 Championship and looks set to have a choice of clubs at his disposal.
West Brom are also reportedly interested in signing Bamford.
