Aymen Abdennour is the subject of interest for a number of clubs this transfer window, including Newcastle United.
The news was confirmed by Andennour’s agent Abdelkalar Jilani – touting his client for a bigger move across Europe away from Ligue 1.
“Given the season that Aymen had, there is interest from all over the world. We have received calls from clubs and sporting directors, but for now nothing [has been decided].”
“Clubs like Valencia, Newcastle, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Wolfsburg have called. We have received concrete offers from these teams, and they are really interested in Aymen.”
The 25-year-old Tunisian spent the last campaign at AS Monaco, contributing to becoming the strongest defence in Ligue 1, ahead of the likes of Marseille and PSG. Aymen joined Monaco last year following a loan spell with the team from Toulouse.
The news comes just hours after Newcastle United announced they were releasing six senior players, including defenders Remi Streete, Ryan Taylor and notorious local hero Jonas Gutierrez – who ended up scoring the winner on the final day of last season to keep Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Newcastle will be looking to reshuffle their defensive options this summer, having seen a dramatic decline in form from Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini possibly still wanting a move back to his local boyhood side, San Lorenzo.
