Alan Pardew is denied a win against his previous employers, as Newcastle grind out a point in South London. Here are the player ratings from the disappointing draw at Selhurst Park:
Tim Krul – 7
A superb save late on to deny Hangeland’s header was the Dutchman was called upon, other than Campbell’s equalising strike that left Krul without a chance.
Daryl Janmaat – 7
Another solid performance from the Dutchman, in defense and attack. Daryl even grabbed an assist after a pinpoint cross that found an unmarked Papiss Cisse to put the Magpies ahead.
Mike Williamson – 4
Back-to-back poor performances for Iron Mike. Despite not having much to deal with, the 31-year-old struggled when called upon and was arguably at fault for Palace’s equaliser.
Fabricio Coloccini – 6
The Argentine was involved in the biggest talking point of the game – an off the ball incident involving a fan launching a coin at Fabricio’s eye, in the wake of Cisse’s goal. Aside from that, a decent performance from our captain.
Massadio Haïdara – 5
Like the match at Stoke, Haidara was brilliant all round for the first-half, getting forward and causing problems at every opportunity, but failed to produce more of the same after the break. Bolasie’s introduction saw the left back’s performance slump even further, resulting in Dummett being brought on for support.
Jack Colback – 6
Solid defensive performance from Colback, who was restricted to play a deeper role, due to Sissoko’s attacking instincts.
Moussa Sissoko – 5
Once again, Moussa, in a deeper role this time, failed to impact the game significantly. Despite frequently getting into dangerous areas, the Frenchman failed to prove a real threat.
Remy Cabella – 6
In what was a relatively bland affair, Cabella produced short bursts of pace and flair to dazzle the opponent and create chances. The decision to substitute the Frenchman was met with chants of “are you Pardew in disguise?” with Carver more than happy to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Ayoze Perez – 5
A few fancy flicks here and there but, other than that, the Spaniard managed very little all game.
Yoan Gouffran – 5
Simply put: the sooner Rolando Aarons is back the better. Gouffran offered next to nothing in both attack and defense. Improvement is needed if the Frenchman hopes to retain his place in the first-team.
Papiss Cisse – 7
Very little support for Papiss but, when a ball was eventually played into him by Janmaat, he scored his 10th goal of the season.
Mehdi Abeid – SUB
Was gifted 12 minutes of game time this week (an improvement on last week’s 4 minute cameo) but it still wasn’t enough for the midfielder to make any real impact.
Paul Dummett – SUB
Introduced late on to neutralise the threat of Palace’s Bolasie, who had Haidara’s number.
Emmanuel Riviere – SUB
Brought on at the death to waste time, with Carver happy to settle for a draw.
