Newcastle United have been linked with an audacious move for Sporting CP striker Bas Dost.
According to claims from Portuguese news outlet A Bola, as cited in a report from the Chronicle Live, the Magpies have identified the Netherlands international as a potential target this summer.
Newcastle have been linked continuously with Dost over the course of the last couple of years and the rumours have evidently surfaced once again, with the towering forward again touted with a move to St James’ Park.

Dost has enjoyed a quite tremendous season in Portugal. From a total of 29 appearances for Sporting in Liga NOS, he has found the net on 26 occasions, making him the second top goalscorer in the Portuguese top-flight.
Rafa Benitez has made it clear that he is intent on bringing in a new striker this summer and this claim has seemingly prompted the links with Dost, who is understood to have a huge release clause inserted in his current deal at Sporting.
With Dost having been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, the prospect of joining Newcastle could be lucrative. However, the club will need to stump up a big sum of money if they are to lure the 28-year-old away from Sporting.
