Benitez hails Newcastle’s togetherness

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has extended his congratulations to everyone associated with the club as they edge closer to securing Premier League survival.

The Magpies are currently sitting pretty in the top half of the Premier League table and are some way off the relegation zone.

Newcastle extended their winning run to four games on the bounce on Sunday afternoon as goals from Ayoze Perez and Matt Ritchie secured a shock win over Arsenal.

Benitez, as quoted by the Shields Gazette, spoke of his pride with regards to how his side have performed this season as Newcastle look ahead to another campaign in the top flight.

Everybody was pushing in the same direction, and that’s the key when you want to succeed in something.

Every single player, every fan, every member of the staff, I have to congratulate them, because it has been a fantastic achievement in a very difficult season.

Newcastle boss Benitez remains the subject of plenty of speculation, with a move to Real Sociedad recently touted by various Spanish news outlets.

However, it seems he is enjoying his time at St James’ Park and is looking ahead to yet more memorable moments with Newcastle following an impressive first season back in the Premier League.

We were so good in a lot of things that in the end, I think we deserve to be where we are. Some people were dreaming that maybe we could be here, but they were not awake. We were awake, we were believing from day one.
