Newcastle United are being linked with a surprise double move for Sunderland youngsters Josh Maja and Joel Asoro.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Magpies are keeping a close eye on the promising duo who have impressed in a difficult season for the Black Cats.
Sunderland appear to be destined for relegation to League One this season and as a result of this, they may be vulnerable to player sales in the summer transfer window.
Both players are attackers who have stood out for Sunderland when they have been given the chance to shine and they have certainly caught the eye of many, including Newcastle, with some exciting performances.
Sunderland are claimed by the Daily Mail to have already offered the young duo new and improved long-term contracts at the club. However, the prospect of League One football is likely to be somewhat unappealing for the pair.
Maja has found the net once in the Championship this season, whilst Asoro has scored on two occasions.
