Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Jamal Lascelles has remained focused, despite the rumours over his future.
Chelsea have been touted with an interest in Lascelles as they look to reshape their defence in the summer.
Lascelles has been in terrific form for Newcastle over the course of the season and looks set to earn himself a big move.
However, he is remaining committed to the cause at Newcastle and finishing out the season with professionalism.
Speaking to Football London, Benitez said this:
He’s happy, training well, he’s improving, he’s focused.
You can’t stop speculation about players but I was talking with him for a while last week, the focus is just trying to improve his game.
I think at the moment he knows he has to continue progressing and learning but he is quite happy here.
Lascelles recently signed a new contract with Newcastle that takes his deal with the club up to 2023.
The Englishman will also be hoping to make the World Cup squad for his country in Russia this summer.
