After Rafael Benitez instructed his scouts to find potential replacements for every position, Newcastle are said to be nearing a deal for Gent winger Moses Simon.

The Nigerian is a pacey wide player, more than happy to spend time on the ball, and Newcastle’s recruitment team are said to have recently been in attendance at Nigeria’s recently friendly with Serbia, in addition to his club’s encounter with Anderlecht.

It would follow Newcastle’s recent trend of recruitment from the Jupiler Pro League, with Chancel Mbemba and the presently loaned Aleksandar Mitrovic arriving from the division.

As for Moses himself, he has admitted to wanting to play in England.

If they can, they will be rewarded with a player who has made 17 appearances for his country at a young age, and previously of the much-heralded Ajax academy.

With 71 caps for his club since joining in 2015, the chance seems to have presented itself for Newcastle to add a young player with some valuable experience.
