Martin Dubravka has revealed that he will join Newcastle United on a permanent basis this summer, but only if they stay in the Premier League.
Speaking to the media in his homeland of Slovakia, as quoted by the Northern Echo, the experienced goalkeeper discussed his future prospects and what he expects to happen when his loan deal at Newcastle expires.
Rafa Benitez has made Dubravka his first choice goalkeeper since his arrival on loan from Sparta Prague in January. The Magpies are likely to have a free run at landing the shot stopper, but it seems much of their allure will be dependent on their top-flight status.
Everything depends mainly on how the team finishes in the top-flight or whether we stay in it. In my opinion, it will also affect my future in the club.
Dubravka has impressed in the short space of time he has had since joining, helping to shore up the defensive line at St James’ Park.

Although Newcastle are not yet out of the relegation battle, they find themselves placed in 13th on the Premier League table and four points clear of the bottom three.
I will continue to focus on getting as many points as possible, and thus avoiding relegation. I think Newcastle will be in the Premier League, and then a permanent transfer will be possible. But as I said, I’m focusing exclusively on my performance at the moment.
Dubravka has seemingly enjoyed his time in England and would be open to staying beyond this summer if Newcastle are still a Premier League club come June.
It’s a beautiful time, joining the Premier League was a huge step forward for me. Now, I’m doing everything to stay there so I can (help) the club with my approach and performance.
For this chance, I’m very grateful, and I will see what the situation will be in the summer – whether I stay here, and whether after the loan there will be a transfer.
