Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has been alerted by the prospect of Luke Shaw being available for a transfer this summer according to the Chronicle Live.
Shaw has become unhappy at United after the treatment he has been on the receiving end of from his manager Jose Mourinho, which has sparked talk of a move away.
The Newcastle boss is a keen admirer of the player and did try and make an enquiry for Shaw ahead of a potential January move but United were reportedly demanding £20 million for the full-back.

He was withdrawn at half-time at the weekend in the FA Cup tie against Brighton and as a result, came under yet more criticism from Mourinho after the match.
Shaw has found it really tough to gain regular minutes in the United team this season after joining the club with a brilliant reputation following his time at Southampton in the Premier League.
