Newcastle defender set to leave in the summer
Newcastle United are prepared to let Massadio Haidara leave the club when the summer transfer window opens, according to a report from the Northern Echo.
The left-back has failed to live up to expectations at St James’ Park and it seems Rafa Benitez now deems him surplus to requirements.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester United defender Luke Shaw in recent times, with the England international seemingly set for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
Haidara has made just one appearance throughout the course of the 2017/18 season for Newcastle. This came in the club’s heavy defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup.
It’s believed that Haidara’s contract with Newcastle runs until the end of the season, meaning that he can discuss a potential move away with other clubs as his deal continues to approach its expiration.
Haidara has never truly been more than a bit-part player with the Magpies and it seems Newcastle will not offer him a new deal at the club.
