Newcastle interested in former Dortmund protege
Newcastle United are interested in signing Tolgay Arslan from Besiktas this summer, according to reports in Turkey.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been a rotational option at Besiktas this season, making 13 starts in the league and coming off the bench on a total of seven occasions thus far.
Arslan, who spent six years in Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy, put pen to paper on a new deal extending until 2022 with the Turkish club not so long ago, but a move to England for the first time in his career could come as a tempting proposition.
Newcastle are rumoured to be on the lookout for further investment into their midfield options and Arslan would certainly fit the bill, given his capability to play in a deeper role.
A return to Bundesliga could be tempting for Arslan, though, with Bayer Leverkusen touted with interest. His former club Dortmund are also said to be keen on re-signing the player, who they let go of in 2009.
