Newcastle willing to offload young forward
Newcastle United are reportedly willing to sell young striker Ivan Toney this summer.
According to a report from the Chronicle, the Magpies are prepared to listen to offers for the 21-year-old forward, who has never truly broken onto the first-team scene at the club.
Toney enjoyed a positive spell at Scunthorpe on loan last season and returned to the club in recent times on another temporary deal until the end of the 2017/18 campaign. He joined Wigan Athletic on loan in the summer but failed to influence proceedings for Paul Cook’s side.
Once tipped for big things, Toney has not lived up to his potential at St James’ Park and it seems the club have finally deemed him to be a player who is surplus to their requirements moving forward.
Newcastle have a host of attacking options and they evidently do not hold Toney in high enough esteem to justify retaining his services for the foreseeable future.
