Below are the Newcastle player ratings from the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday, at the Vitality Stadium.
Martin Dubravka - 7
No chance with the two goals, and he was left unquestionably static for Smith’s thunderous effort. He did what he had to do apart from that, and the goalkeeper made one excellent save to deny Cook.
Paul Dummett - 7
Dummett was instrumental for creating the second goal, by spreading the ball wonderfully to Perez. He was solid defensively throughout.
Florian Lejeune - 7
Lejeune did well to clear balls pumped into the box, and was solid in winning the ball when it was played into the Bournemouth strikers.
Jamaal Lascelles - 7
Alike to Lejeune, Lascelles defended well against the Bournemouth front-line. But, the captain failed to help prevent the two goals conceded in the last ten minutes, alongside the rest of his defenders.
De'Andre Yedlin - 7
The American did well to come across and intercept the ball when Bournemouth looked to dissect the Newcastle defence. He did well to carry the ball forward with pace when the space opened ahead of him.
Kenedy - 6
The Brazilian wasted a couple of opportunities that he had to take with his weaker foot. He worked hard however, and tracked back well.
Jonjo Shelvey - 8
Shelvey was instrumental for the first goal, with his wonderful pass that picked out Ritchie. The midfielder was strong in the tackle, and battled hard throughout.
Mohammed Diame - 7
Another hardworking display from the Senegalese but not as much paid off for him as they have in recent weeks. A few long switches were intercepted, when really they should have been completed.
Matt Ritchie - 7
Ritchie grabbed the assist for the first goal, with an excellent driven-cross. He was not afraid to run at the Bournemouth defence, but his decision making was sometimes questionable.
Ayoze Perez - 6
Perez assisted both Gayle’s and Newcastle’s second goal, but his creativity was limited apart from that. The Spaniard ran into danger and lost the ball far too many times. He did however work hard and chase after the ball.
Dwight Gayle - 8
Two goals from less than a yard out for Gayle, and he did well to get in the right positions to score. He also worked hard alongside Perez to chase down the ball when Bournemouth were in possession.
