Ashley is now set to remain at the helm of Newcastle United despite his evident openness to sell up after many years as the owner of the club.
Staveley’s bid was reportedly worth up to £300 million but it seems Ashley was out to receive more from the sale of the North East club, which has seen negotiations come to an abrupt end if various sources are to be believed.
Newcastle fans have grown increasingly resentful towards Ashley as the years have gone by and this is sure to come as bad news to the St James’ Park faithful.
