Newcastle among clubs chasing Bristol City star
Newcastle United are one of a number of clubs that are chasing the signature of Bristol City star Josh Brownhill, according to reports.
The 21-year old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has become an integral part of Lee Johnson’s side, and is attracting Premier League interest ahead of a potential January offer.
According to TeamTalk, interest in Brownhill has come from Bournemouth, Burnley and Leicester City, as well as the Magpies, and Championship duo Leeds United and Derby County.
Bristol City do have the option to extend Brownhill’s contract by an additional 12-months, and they are reportedly interested in tying him down to an improved long-term deal, but significant interest in January could make that difficult.
City will be hopeful that Brownhill will remain at the club beyond the winter transfer window, with the club looking to cement their play-off place ahead of potentially bringing Premier League football to Ashton Gate.
