Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing Dominick Drexler.

The 27-year-old is currently playing for Holstein Kiel in the second tier of German football and has been impressing Magpies scouts in recent times.

It’s claimed by German news outlet Kicker that following several scouting missions, Drexler has convinced Newcastle of his qualities, with the Premier League club now keen to secure his services.

Drexler has been in superb form for his side this season. The midfielder, who plays primarily as a number 10, has netted on eight occasions so far this term in the league, and this has evidently caught the eye of Newcastle’s recruitment team.

The German playmaker has also contributed with five assists in all competitions, and has seen himself directly involved in 15 goals across the board for Holstein Kiel this season.

However, Newcastle are not alone in their interest. The report claims that Championship duo Cardiff City and Aston Villa are also keen on Drexler, whose stock continues to rise.
