Aleksandar Mitrovic is reportedly considering a move away from Newcastle United.
The powerful striker has not been utlised often by manager Rafa Benitez this season, leading to further speculation surrounding his long-term future at St James’ Park.
Mitrovic, according to reports in Belgium, as cited by the Newcastle Chronicle, would be open to a return to RSC Anderlecht.
The Serbian international joined the Magpies from Anderlecht and was one of the Pro League’s top strikers in the season prior to his departure. With game time limited at Newcastle, it comes as no surprise to see reports linking the player away from the club.
Joselu’s arrival from Stoke City in the summer only pushed Mitrovic further down the pecking order at Newcastle and it seems that Dwight Gayle is also a preferred option up top for Benitez.
Mitrovic could be looking towards a move away from the club in January, now, with Benitez understood to be aiming to recruit yet another striker.
