Newcastle United are reportedly one of several clubs looking to sign Anderlecht centre-back Kara Mbodji.

According to an exclusive report from Turkish-Football, the Magpies are among those in the Premier League interested in landing the towering centre-back, who has been superb for Anderlecht in recent seasons.

Kara is a player who has long been linked with a move to the English top flight, and his agent Ediz Balkan has confirmed that a host of Premier League clubs have held initial talks.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez wants to sign new players in the January transfer window, and could have additional financial backing should a takeover of the club go through in time.

However, it’s been previously claimed that Benitez will focus his attentions towards a new left-back and striker, with Newcastle already well-stocked in terms of central defenders.

Kara is an established Senegal international and has been key for Anderlecht since joining.
