Staveley begins due diligence checks at Newcastle
Amanda Staveley has started to carry out due diligence checks at Newcastle United ahead of her proposed takeover bid.
The Telegraph report Staveley is looking to take control of the club, rather than act as a deal broker, something had been muted in previous reports.
As with any deal, Staveley now has the chance to look through the books at Newcastle before deciding exactly what to offer Mike Ashley for the club.
Ashley is said to be hoping for somewhere in the region of £400 million for the club, but the report suggests that a deal is likely to be met somewhere around the £300 million mark if all goes well.
Staveley is not the only interested party in the club but appears to be the frontrunner for any potential deal.
The report suggests that should a deal go through after Ashley officially but the club up for sale, manager Rafa Benitez can expect ‘substantial’ investment at Newcastle.
