Newcastle scout in-demand striker during international break
Newcastle sent scouts to watch transfer target Cenk Tosun during the international break as they step up their interest in the player.
The Northen Echo reports that a senior scouting delegation watched the striker during Turkey’s games against Iceland and Finland. Tosun scored both of Turkey’s goals in a 2-2 draw against Finland.
The Besiktas striker is thought to be being chased by at least 10 different clubs after a strong start to the season in Turkey.
Tosun has scored five goals in 11 game across all competitions for club and country already this season.
Besiktas are believed to be asking for somewhere in the region of €18 million for the player, with a host of clubs eyeing a move for the player in January.
Rafa Benitez is said to be interested in a deal as he goes in search of extra firepower in attack.
Goals have been hard to come by this season. Newcastle have netted just seven times. Only West Brom (6) have scored less inside the top half of the table.
