Newcastle, along with West Brom and Burnley, are reportedly keen on signing Yuto Nagatomo from Inter Milan.
According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, as covered by talkSPORT, the Magpies are keeping tabs on Nagatomo’s situation at the San Siro as he ponders a new deal with the club.
Nagatomo has held only a sporadic role in Inter’s side over the past few years, and could leave the club with just under two years remaining on his current contract.
The 31-year-old is an established Japanese international and is one of the most experienced players in Luciano Spalletti’s Inter squad.
Nagatomo has started four Serie A games for Inter this season, and has helped his side to reach 3rd place in the table after seven games.
Newcastle are lacking depth at left-back, as has been highlighted by Paul Dummett’s injury on the opening day of the season, with the likes of Chancel Mbemba deputising since.
Nagatomo could therefore be a steady option if Rafa Benitez opts to pursue another left-back in January.
