Newcastle are seemingly continuing their interest in Besiktas attacker Cenk Tosun, and have recently scouted him.
According to the Croydon Advertiser, the Magpies had representatives in attendance for Turkey’s recent clash against Iceland on Friday evening, with Tosun the specific person of interest.
It was a bad night for the Besiktas man, and for the Turkish national team as a whole. They slumped to a 3-0 victory at the hands of Iceland, and Tosun failed to influence proceedings.
Newcastle have been linked with a move for Tosun for a long time now, with the player himself having previously admitted that he’d love to one day play in the Premier League.
The Magpies were one of several clubs chasing his signature in the summer, along with the likes of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur – both of whom had scouts in attendance as Turkey slumped to defeat.
Rafa Benitez looked to add extra firepower to his side upon their return to the Premier League and it looks as though a new striker like Tosun could be under consideration ahead of the January transfer window.
