Newcastle United appear to be retaining an interest in Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.
The Belgian playmaker was heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park at the back end of the summer transfer window, but no move materialised as Sampdoria resisted interest.
However, according to Sport Mediaset, as cited by Football Italia, the Magpies remain keen on landing the former Anderlecht man.
Praet is yet to truly find his feet in Italy, and has struggled to replicate some of the exquisite, creative displays he turned in during his time in his homeland of Belgium.
Newcastle were on the lookout for attacking talent throughout the course of the summer but failed to recruit their top targets. However, it’s looking as though they will return for Praet in January, despite Sampdoria’s desire to retain his services.
The report claims also that a number of Bundesliga sides are taking an interest in the 23-year-old.
