Shelvey fractures finger during fight
Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has fractured one of his fingers during a training ground bust-up.
According to The Telegraph, Shelvey was injured whilst trying to defuse a fight between Mo Diame and Jamal Lascelles.
The pair had an argument that became overheated and Shelvey was forced to intervene, coming off worse for wear in the process.
The report claims that Shelvey took a few punches as he blocked Lascelles and Diame from getting each other and fractured his finger whilst doing so.
The argument is said to have arose from Lascelles calling Diame lazy, seemingly questioning his attitude to training.
Despite the injury, Shelvey will be fit to face Southampton on Sunday, as he is set to wear a protective cast over his injured finger.
The English midfielder was lauded his excellent pass to set up Joselu’s goal against Liverpool before the international break.
Rafa Benitez will be pleased the injury does not rule him out of any Premier League matches.
