Serbia boss Slavoljub Muslin has not held back in his thoughts on Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, claiming that striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is more appreciated whilst with his national team.
In an honest and up front interview, as reported by the Mail Online, Muslin questions Benitez’s management of the player.
Perhaps the coach in Newcastle doesn’t have as much confidence in him as I do. He is our first centre forward. Perhaps he feels more comfortable playing for the national team than he does for his own club.
Mitrovic has not endured the best of starts to the new Premier League campaign.
The striker scored during Newcastle’s 3-0 win over West Ham, but will now serve a three-match suspension after admitting to violent conduct.
The Serbian appeared to elbow Manuel Lanzini but the incident was missed by officials during the game.
Despite his mixed start to the Premier League season, Mitrovic is used to rediscovering his best form while away on international duty, he has scored six in Serbia’s qualifying campaign.
