Newcastle will be hoping to secure their first win of the season on Sunday when they travel to Huddersfield.
Rafa Benitez’s side fell short at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last week in their Premier League opener. Jonjo Shelvey’s red card just after the restart was the catalyst for Spurs, who came away with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies.
Huddersfield, on the other hand, got their Premier League campaign off to a flying start. An own goal from Joel Ward and a brace from summer signing Steve Mounié helped the Terriers to a shock 3-0 win away at Crystal Palace.
Benitez will have numerous injury problems to contest with as he looks to find the winning formula on Sunday, but will be confident that his side have enough to see off David Wagner’s men.
So, without further ado, take a look at our predicted Newcastle line-up for the match!
Rob Elliot
Elliot is likely to retain his place between the sticks.
Javi Manquillo
Manquillo will start out on the right hand side of defence.
Jamaal Lascelles
Lascelles is set to come into central defence for Florian Lejeune in what will be a defensive shake-up.
Chancel Mbemba
Mbemba too is looking likely to start.
Ciaran Clark
Clark was pushed out to the left against Spurs after Paul Dummett’s injury, and is likely to continue there.
Mikel Merino
Merino looked impressive when he came on last week and with Jonjo Shelvey suspended, he’s set to get his chance.
Isaac Hayden
Hayden is set to retain his place in the middle.
Matt Ritchie
Ritchie will be keen to have a greater impact on Sunday’s game than he did last week.
Ayoze Perez
Perez, too, will be keen to give Newcastle a spark.
Christian Atsu
Atsu looked bright last week and will be keen to impress.
Dwight Gayle
Gayle will need service against Huddersfield, and is set to start.
