Twitter: Newcastle United have approached free agent & former Bordeaux goalkeeper Cédric Carrasso this week, according to @ManuLonjon. (@GFFN)
He claims that Newcastle have held talks with the shot-stopper this week after his release from Bordeaux earlier this summer.
Carrasso left Bordeaux in July, following an eight-year spell at the French club. In that time he was able to amass 314 appearances in all competitions and earn a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the French league.
The 35-year-old could now potentially sign for Newcastle on a free transfer following his talks with the club.
The shot-stopper has one solitary cap for his country, France, which he was awarded in 2011 against Poland. He has been kept out of the side by current Premier League goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
