Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race for Ross Barkley, but understand that they would be unable to compete financially with the other clubs interested.
According to a report from the Daily Mail today, the Magpies have joined a host of clubs in their interest in the England international. However, given the transfer fee that Everton are likely to demand and considering the wage that Barkley claimed to be expecting, Newcastle are highly unlikely to be the player’s next destination.
Barkley is looking to leave Everton this summer, with the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea named as potential suitors.
Rafa Benitez appears to be in the market for more additions this summer, though, and will surely be looking to bolster his side ahead of the start of the season next Friday.
Signing Barkley would certainly be a signal of intent from Newcastle, but it simply doesn’t look to be a plausible move for any party.
