Newcastle set to miss out on main striking target
Newcaslte United are set to miss out on highly-rated Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham, after the striker agreed a deal with Premier League rivals Swansea City according to the Mirror.
The England Under-21 forward has agreed to join the Swans on a season-long loan, from parent club Chelsea.
Abraham enjoyed a successful loan stint at Bristol City last season, scoring 23 goals, helping the Robins survive in the Championship after a relegation battle.
He will now join up with a Swansea side who themselves looked likely to go down last year, until the appointment of Paul Clement, who inspired his side and led them to Premier League safety.
Newcastle were strong contenders for the striker’s signature, but a deal failed to be agreed, and consequently they are now set to miss out on him.
After Abraham proved himself in the Championship last season, this moves proves to be a good opportunity for the youngster, who will look to impress in the top-flight once he returns home from Poland, where he is leading the line for England Under-21’s at the European Championships.
