Newcastle are reportedly keen to sign Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson this summer.
According to the Mirror, the Magpies are joined by fellow Championship outfit Brighton in their pursuit of the defender, with both sides looking to strengthen ahead of respective Premier League campaigns next season.
Jenkinson was once labelled as a highly promising young player in the Arsenal ranks, but his career hasn’t gone quite the way he would have wanted it to.
He’s been hindered by a lack of first-team opportunities at the Emirates, along with some devastating long-term injuries, but could be set to seek a move elsewhere to revitalise his career.
Newcastle may be in need of some Premier League experience along their back-line next season and Jenkinson would certainly fit the bill, but right-back isn’t a position that is lacking depth.
Both DeAndre Yedlin and Jesus Gamez are at Rafa Benitez’s disposal and if Jenkinson is signed, one will more than likely head out of the door.
