Newcastle United have been told to stump up €2million (roughly £1.7million) if they hope to land reported target Cheick Keita of Virtus Entella, Tuttosport – via SportWitness – report.
Rafa Benitez is said to be a keen admirer of 20-year-old Keita and hopes to conclude a deal to bring the left-back to Tyneside this season.
This is the second Tuttosport Newcastle United ‘exclusive’ in the space of days – following news of the Magpies’ interest in Torino forward Josef Martinez. Whether the club’s interest is genuine or just agents attempting to drum up interest in their clients is yet to be seen.
With Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara and Achraf Lazaar at left-back, not to mention Jesus Gamez and Jack Colback also provide cover, Newcastle are certainly not short in the left-back department – making this rumour even harder to believe.
Should Rafa hold a genuine interest in Keita, Newcastle will have no trouble matching the demands of Virtus Entella and the player.
