Newcastle will have to fight with Aston Villa and Norwich City in order to gain the signature of Fulham striker Ross McCormack this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Scottish striker has a £12million release clause in his Fulham contract, and the three relegated clubs are fighting for him as they begin to plan their way back to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old scored 23 goals in the 2015-16 Championship season to help Fulham avoid relegation to League One, and has once been the Championship’s top scorer, getting the ball in the back of the net 28 times while at Leeds United in the 2013-14 season.

McCormack went to Craven Cottage for a £11million fee in the summer transfer window of 2014, and has scored 38 times in 89 competitive games for Fulham. He has also made 12 appearances for the Scotland national team, netting twice in those games.

McCormack would look to be a perfect fit for Newcastle, as they are lacking goalscorers, and with him being one of the top scorers in the Championship, he will definitely thrive at Newcastle.
