Cheick Tiote has once again been linked with a big money move abroad, this time with Chinese club Beijing Guoan. Speculation over the midfielders future seems to grow with every passing transfer window, but the Ivorian has opted out of any possible transfers. Chinese clubs have the financial backing to invest heavily and are looking to players with plenty of Premier League experience.
The Beijing club are willing to offer the Newcastle midfielder £3.5 million pounds a year after tax which equates to approximately £67,000 a week. Newcastle value Tiote at around £8m pounds however the Chinese side would look to negotiate a lower fee.
The 29-year-old has made 11 appearances for Newcastle this season and the club are keen for him to stay to boost their bid for survival in the Premier League. Tiote looked back to his best in the unfortunate defeat to Arsenal and still has 18 months left on his current deal.
Steve McClaren has kept any hints concerning transfer targets under wraps and wants to keep it that way. However there is a clear interest from the club in former loanee Loic Remy. The Frenchman scored 14 goals in 26 appearance for The Magpies and isn’t getting anywhere near enough game time that he would like for Chelsea. Reports suggest he wont be going anywhere unless Guus Hiddink can wrap up a deal for another striker. Other targets include Bordeaux’s Henri Saivet and Leeds’ Sam Byram, however Newcastle’s place in the Premier League’s relegation zone could potentially hinder possible deals.
How many signings do you think we will make this month?
