Sports Interactive have today released a beta version of the latest installment of the Football Manager series, to any players who have already pre-ordered the full game, ahead of its release on November 16th.

Upon its release, we have decided to take control of Newcastle United and reveal our best (current & potential) and worst players, as well as taking a look at the finances.

Before looking at the squad, which is quite an exciting one on paper, the season expectations were outlined and transfer budgets were proposed. Mike Ashley would only offer £700,000 to begin with, with £50,000-a-week wage budget. Even if I cranked the expectations up to EURO Cup qualification and an FA Cup win, the tight owner will only offer £797,000, with an improved wage budget of £120,000-a-week.

Quite ironically, the club deemed the League Cup as ‘Not Important’, so the cup’s performance did not impact on my budget.

It is fair to say that Sports Interactive have definitely done their research on our controversial owner.
