Daily Star are reporting that Newcastle are interested in buying back French right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The defender was sold to Arsenal by the Magpies a year ago for a fee of £12m, however, has struggled to get game time, with the position of right-back being dominated by Hector Bellerin.

Debuchy has made only 18 appearances during his year-long Arsenal career and has scored once. He has only made three appearances this season for Arsenal, with two of them coming in cup competitions. His only Premier League appearance was the opening day defeat at the hands of West Ham.

Newcastle signed him from Lille, his childhood club, where he had made 291 appearances in his 10-year spell with them. During his time with Newcastle, he made a total of 46 appearances and contributed one goal.

Debuchy will hope that a move could rejuvenate his international career, having got 27 caps for his country, but not having a call up since July.
