Newcastle have offered centre-back Mike Williamson in part-exchange to Brighton to try and seal a deal for Lewis Dunk, according to the Daily Mail.
The Englishman is one of the club’s longest-serving players but doesn’t feature in manager Steve McClaren’s long-term plans at the club.

McClaren is eager to bring in the £5m-rated defender from Championship side Brighton but is struggling to agree a fee, so he’s hoping including Williamson in the deal would help them near an agreement.
Brighton have already turned down a £4m offer from Fulham for their star defender this summer, but the lure of the Premier League could persuade Dunk to ask for a transfer.
Williamson isn’t the only Newcastle player McClaren has told they’re free to leave, as Yoan Gouffran, Gael Bigirimana, Mehdi Abeid and Haris Vuckic have all been made available for transfer this summer.
With Fabricio Coloccini staying at the club, and Newcastle’s eagerness to recruit another centre-back, Williamson’s time at the club may be coming to an end.
